Dr. Jie Shen's Biography

Jie Shen is an assistant professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Before he joined NTU, he conducted his postdoctoral research at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Nanjing Tech University and was a visiting researcher in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

His current research is centered on the molecular-level designing and understanding of mass-transport channels, nanofluidics, and membrane materials. Harnessing channels and membranes as versatile platforms, the Shen Research Group @ NTU, Singapore, is dedicated to advancing the next-generation sustainable technologies to address challenges related to energy, environment, and healthcare. His research has been published in journals including Nature, ScienceNature Materials, Nature Review Materials, Science Advances, and Angewandte Chemie.

He is the recipient of the 2023 North American Membrane Society (NAMS) Young Membrane Scientist Award and the 2023 European Membrane Society (EMS) Conference Fee Award for Young Academics. He has been recognized as one of the Global Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier (2022-2024). He also serves as a youth editorial member for journals such as The Innovation and Nano Research Energy.
